Palayan

The movement of rural people from their villages to urban areas for better living standards and employment called “Palayan” also refers to urbanization.

After independence, urbanization started in India due to the country’s adoption of a mixed economy, which gave rise to the development of the private sector i.e., industrialization, which expanded employment opportunities.

People have migrated to cities from rural areas on account of better employment opportunities. Many social factors attracted people for a better standard of living, better educational facilities, better health care, and the need for status also induce people to migrate from their places.

Palayan is the low rate of investment in rural areas compared to urban areas. It developed with sophisticated technology better infrastructure, communication, medical facilities, and people feel they can lead a comfortable life

The high rate of Palayan may result in adverse effects i.e., over-population, accommodation problems, growth of slums is the major problem of cities.

Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, like metro cities, the main problem is the high population of slums, which leads to a high rate of crimes. Theft, Dacoity, Murder, Cheating, Pickpocketing that reduce the behavior pattern and standard of living.
