EndChildLabour

The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the first World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 as a way to highlight the plight of working children. Observed in the week of June, it is intended to serve as a catalyst for the growing worldwide movement against child labour.

ROSHNI contributed to the movement by organizing an intense awareness session on 15th June 2022, on this utterly important topic at Dakshini Delhi Nagar Nigam Prathmik Vidyalaya, Lal Kuan, New Delhi and Dakshini Delhi Nagar Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya, Pul Prahladpur, New Delhi. With the support of Petronet LNG and UNISED,   ROSHNI also worked as an implementing agency to donate 1000 DESKITS to the elementary class students of these two MCD Schools of South Delhi. Mr. Gaurav Kumar, CSR Manager, Petronet LNG, was present at the schools, along with Shri Muktamay Mandal, Dy. Director of Education, South Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Being the Capital of India, Delhi is assumed to be free of issues regarding education, but this isn’t really the case. Students of Delhi also lack behind in facilities, especially furniture, and it has been heavily affecting attendance in MCD schools of Delhi. Students are forced to sit on floors of grounds due to lack of proper benches, they even sit on tattered carpets during winters, school witnesses a major drop in attendance too, due to such inconveniences. Children are more prone to have postural deformities in situation like these where neck ache and back pains become a part of life for young kids. A successful solution in the form of DESKITS is exactly what was required.
