Health and hygiene is an alarming issue in the present time. According to WHO, health is a state of mental, spiritual, physical, and social well-being. In India malnutrition is the main cause of deprived families.

Hygiene refers to Good practices, awareness, education sewage disposal, cleanliness, and safe drinking water supply, which prevent diseases and leads to good health.

50% of children die every year due to malnutrition and approx one-third of infants in India are born with low weight has an adverse effect on adult’s life. Experts have estimated that 10% of the productivity of individuals and 2-3% of GDP of nation losses by this health problem (malnutrition). If we tackle this problem, it will help in the economic development of India.

During summer our body require minimum 10-12 L of clean water as water keep our body hydrated and remove toxin from the body, keep body healthy but the fact is approx 40% of our population cause diseases like typhoid and cholera etc, due to Contaminated water supply.

Urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions owing mainly two reasons –first the lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and second the unwillingness to lose a day’s wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility.

  • Organize Periodic Health & medical Check-up Camps in slum areas& villages.
  • Dental Camps & Ophthalmology camp in rural areas, Government schools.
  • Build Toilets & Urinals in Rural Girls Schools.
  • Free Distribution of Sanitary Pad’s, Incineration Units & Napkins in Villages, Government schools & Women Prisoners in Jails.
  • We provide door-to-door healthcare service on wheels to needy ones.
  • Promote healthcare awareness and contemporary healthcare-seeking behavior among the underprivileged.
  • Organize Free Health care and Blood -Donation Camp.
  • Roshni (Sanstha) supplies drinking water in slums and rural area during summers and organize water campaign to conserve water.


Urban residents, especially in slums area and rural dwellers, are suffering from adverse health and hygiene condition i.e., women menstrual hygiene and other health issues. With the rising level of population, pollution, poverty, and many environmental issues, this has to be a priority for everyone to maintain their health and hygiene.

Roshni Santha initiated to organize periodic health/medical check-up camps, Dental check-up camps, Eye check-up camps, build toilets & urinals, Install Sanitary Pad Vending & Incineration Units& Free distribution of Napkins in Village-based Girl’s Schools, women & women’s  Prisoners in Jails with a special focus in urban slums and rural areas where these resources are not easily available and accessible.
