Suman

Suman, a resilient woman of 40, resided in a remote village in Rajasthan. The harsh winds of fate blew through her life during the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tragically, she found herself widowed, left to pick up the pieces of her shattered existence. Expecting solace and support from her in-laws, she instead faced cruelty and abuse, enduring physical violence at their hands.

Determined to create a better life for her two children and herself, Suman summoned the strength within her, refusing to succumb to despair. It was during this tumultuous period that ROSHNI Organization extended a helping hand, guiding her towards a path of self-reliance.

Empowered by the support and financial aid from Team ROSHNI, Suman took a bold step and moved to Delhi. She transformed herself into a dedicated vegetable vendor, becoming the provider her family deserved. With each day that passed, her resilience grew, and she discovered a newfound sense of purpose.

The tireless efforts and unwavering determination did not go unnoticed. Suman’s journey and her remarkable story caught the attention of Team ROSHNI again, who recognized her courage and resilience. We then honored her with the prestigious “Smt. Santosh Kochhar Memorial Awards for Women Empowerment.” She was also awarded with a cash prize which was further used in the maintenance of her Vegetable Store. The event, held at the esteemed Constitutional Club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi, was graced by political and social dignitaries who celebrated the achievements of women who defied all odds.
